Please note the report uses our previous name, The Bramcote School.

Bramcote College is a Good School
• Leaders are determined that only the best is good enough for pupils at the school.
• They have introduced an aspirational culture which pupils and staff have embraced.
• A total commitment to continuing improvement permeates the school.
• School leaders and governors have established a culture of high vigilance.
• Pupils know the high standards of behaviour expected of them. As a result, they behave well in lessons.
• Current pupils are making dramatically better progress (in English and Maths).

As you will see from the report, the overall judgement is that we are providing a good standard of education for your children. This is the first time that Bramcote College has received a Good Ofsted judgement and it is very gratifying that the hard work and dedication of teachers, support staff, Governors and, of course, students is recognised in such a positive way. We are delighted that inspectors speak so positively about the progress we have made, and are continuing to make.

Of the four main areas, Leadership and Management is judged Good, Teaching is Good, Behaviour, and Welfare is Good, and although Outcomes are judged to require improvement based on historic results, inspectors are clear that they are improving rapidly.

Inspectors have recognised much of the excellent work that takes place at the school. They are confident that the progress our students are making is good or strongly improving. Progress in a range of subjects is praised, including science, humanities and Spanish, and although the inspectors pointed out that progress in Maths and English has been weaker in the past, they highlight the ‘effective action’ taken and describe current progress as ‘dramatically better’.

The report finds that we are ‘determined that only the best is good enough for pupils at the school’ and praise the ‘aspirational culture’. Leadership at all levels is praised, including the leadership shown by Directors, as well as senior and middle leaders across the board. The quality of teaching is also recognised as a major strength, and something that we have worked very hard to improve to such high levels, through ‘excellent’ support and professional development.

We are delighted and proud that our students’ behaviour is described so positively, and that they are confident learners. We are also very pleased that the work we do to promote personal development and students’ safety is praised so highly, and our success with vulnerable students and those with special educational needs is highlighted. I would also like to thank all the parents who completed surveys for the Inspectors, which were overwhelmingly positive and supportive. As the report says: ‘The vast majority of parents… were extremely positive about the school and the recent improvements and would recommend the school to other parents.’

I would like to assure parents that we will use this report as a springboard to continue our improvement – we have the highest aspirations for the students of Bramcote College, and we will build on this success in the coming years.
