The links below outline the support we put in place to help students consolidate their learning at home.

If students experience any problems accessing online resources, cannot login or have forgotten their password and cannot reset it etc, please email the Trust's IT Services department on IThelpdesk@whptrust.org and they will assist as soon as possible during working hours.

We are using Microsoft Teams to make students' work accessible both in school and at home.  It is free, already linked to school email and Microsoft accounts,  and compatible with most devices, including phones, tablets and computers.

All students have been shown how to access Teams, and have started to use it regularly in school to access work.

Year 7 and Year 8
Students have a Team for their form group, and the teachers of every subject upload classwork and homework to this Team, so all the work can easily be found in just one place.

Year 9
Students have a Team for their form group as above,  and also a ‘creative subject’ Team.

Year 10 and Year 11
Students have separate Teams for all of their GCSE classes.

Accessing Teams

Microsoft Teams can be accessed from any internet browser, or can be downloaded as an app to any mobile device completely for free for students.

Students can easily access their Teams by signing into their school Emails and clicking on the menu in the top left-hand corner,  where they can select the Teams app. Alternatively, Teams can be downloaded onto laptops, tablets and phones

Century is an new, award winning online learning platform which covers English, Maths and Science at all levels, and creates personalised learning tasks for each student. challenging them to improve and refreshing knowledge of things they have learned in the past.

All our students complete initial diagnostic tests which act as a baseline assessment for the topics they’re working on; these tests will allow Century to personalise the content for each student and direct them towards bespoke ‘nuggets’ of work which are pitched at the right level to be accessible, while still challenging them to improve. The nuggets include video clips and presentations which cover key facts, as well as knowledge checks and tests. As students work their way through different nuggets of work, they will develop their knowledge and understanding of topics by covering areas they need more practice in, as well as revisiting areas of strength to keep them fresh in their memories. Low stakes quizzes allow students to check their knowledge and understanding, and allows Century to direct them to the next area they need to cover.

Century is accessible on all devices, but works best when used on computers or tablets rather than phones (tasks can take around 10-15 minutes to complete and are best done without the distractions of the various apps and notifications found on mobile phones. Also, the nature of the tasks means that in some cases content may not fit or display correctly on a phone screen. Century are working on developing a more phone friendly soon).

If your son/daughter forgets their login or password, or has any other issues using Century, please feel free to get in touch with our Deputy Head Jo Cooper (jo.cooper@whptrust.org).

Seneca is the fastest growing homework & revision platform in the UK, designed in collaboration with neuroscientists from Oxford, Cambridge and UCL and proven to to help students remember topics better and learn 2x faster.

Students in Year 9, 10 and 11 should use Seneca to help support the retrieval of the knowledge required for each subject. Seneca was designed in collaboration with neuroscientists from Oxford, Cambridge and UCL. The insights from these experts allowed them to produce smart algorithms that apply robustly supported techniques to enhance memory and understanding. These techniques do not just focus on memory, though, and believe that understanding and engagement are also worthy goals in education.

“We tested our system in a Randomised Control Trial with 1,120 participants. Those using Seneca scored 2x more marks than those using a revision guide after 1 month.”

Seneca is accessible on all devices with an internet connection, and they also have an app available for download on Andriod and Apple devices.
