Enrichment @ Bramcote

At Bramcote College, our vision for enrichment is to provide a wealth and breadth of opportunities that bring learning to life and highlight the relevance of the subjects our student's study. We are dedicated to ensuring that every student can see how their education connects to the wider world, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of their studies.

We strive to develop each child’s cultural capital by offering experiences that allow them to explore new places, discover new passions, and cultivate hobbies that enhance their performance and wellbeing. Our commitment is to create an enriching environment where students can thrive, both academically and personally, preparing them to contribute positively to society.

In line with our school motto, “Work hard, Do well, Be well,” we encourage our students to put in their best effort, achieve excellence, and maintain their wellbeing throughout their educational journey.

Academic Enrichment – opportunities that bring deeper understanding and relevance to a subject. This can take place as part of a sequence of lessons or a one-off event.

Extra-curricular Enrichment – opportunities to explore new skills and ideas e.g. hobbies and activities that take place at lunch and after school e.g. School Production, Code Club, Craft Club etc.

Periodically we will publish our enrichment newsletter which will be sent directly to parents. This will highlight some of the fantastic opportunities our students have participated in. We hope you enjoy reading about the amazing opportunities our students have taken part in during the term.

Our enrichment map provides an overview of the enrichment opportunities available within the curriculum and additional opportunities for extracurricular enrichment. We try to provide sufficient information for larger residential visits to allow parents to support financial planning. Please be aware that this is an evolving document however an example copy is attached.

The enrichment map indicates the range of activities that are planned however some opportunities become available with little notice and so will not be included.

We endeavour to provide opportunities for all students; some will be available at no cost whilst other opportunities will require a financial contribution, without which the activity will not take place. These enrichment activities will be shared with parents via letter; sent though the MCAS email system. Payments can be made via MCAS.

School life goes on long after the final bell has sounded.

There are a wealth of activities outside normal school hours with every department offering activities at some point throughout the year. Whether or not you want to learn a new skill, develop existing ones, represent your school, meet new people or just turn up and have fun, with so many different extra-curricular clubs running there really is something for everyone.

We encourage all students to participate and endeavour to provide a range of opportunities to suit all need.

Activities Week

A significant part of our enrichment offer is Activities Week which takes place on the final week of the summer term. During the 2025 July Activities Week students participated in a wide range of activities to boost their employability skills and support with their career’s pathway development.

Consent

We ask all parents to complete the online consent on MCAS this will allow students to participate in a visit in the local area, we do however ask parents to ensure that medical and contact information is kept up to date.

For visits outside the local area, we will require parents to complete a paper or digital EV4 form.

We offer a wide range of opportunities for students at lunch times and after school.  Our clubs timetable is shared with students and also published on our website at the start of each school term (below).  We encourage all our students to take part and offer everything from knitting to football and acting to coding.

Whichever level of award you’re doing you’ll create your own personal programme with the help of your Leader- you just have to choose one activity for each section. It’s up to you what you do for each one, so you can choose something that you’re really into or keen to have a go at. It’s all about setting yourself a challenge and feeling great when you achieve it! There is a great official DofE app that you can download from the Apple app store or Android play store that will help you to begin, manage, and complete your programme..

· Volunteering: This is your chance to make a real difference by helping someone, your community, the environment or an organisation. From being a Listener for the Samaritans or raising money for a cancer charity to helping out at an animal shelter or cleaning up after T-in-the-park- it’s your chance to help others.

· Physical: You can choose any sport, dance or fitness activity to get fitter, keep fit and get better at it! You could play for your local football team or learn to dance or take up something a little more unusual like octopushing or free running –it’s up to you- just choose something you’ll enjoy!

· Skills: Is there something you’ve always wanted to try or do you want to get better at your favourite hobby? Do it for your Skills section and get credit for it! Play the guitar, learn to drive, gain circus skills or even grow cacti - the sky’s the limit when it comes to skills.

· Expedition: Highs, lows, great laughs, amazing memories- you’ll experience it all as you plan, train for and complete an adventurous journey in the UK or abroad. You could find yourselves climbing, cycling, horse riding or walking - who knows where your expedition will take you!
