What will I study?

The Maths A level is a highly demanding course and for those who have a very conscientious attitude and the desire to work independently, it is extremely rewarding. A good grade at A2 level opens up many potential degrees and subsequent careers including engineering, accountancy, investment banking, programming and IT systems analysis. The 3 modules studied across the 2-year course are:
• Core Mathematics and its applications
• Mechanics
• Statistics

Assesment

3 x 2 hour exams at the end of Year 13

What skills will I gain?

• The ability to solve problems and apply logic
• An increased ability to analyse
• The ability to think creatively when approaching problems

Studying Beyond the Classroom

• Text books will provided for students and a lot of independent study and consolidation will be expected out of the classroom.
• Opportunity to visit local universities to participate in maths workshops
• Entry to Senior Maths Challenge

Future Pathways

• Degree (Maths is considered one of the most useful subjects so is suitable for all degrees from Law to Engineering)

• Apprenticeships
